I have an immense passion for wildlife conservation and rehabilitation. Currently, I am part of San Francisco’s Zoo A.R.C. internship, which provides me exposure to zoo operations and hands-on experience caring for ambassador animals who reside in the Koret Center for Animal Rescue and Conservation (“A.R.C.”). I also conduct invertebrate research focusing on the evolutionary history of nudibranchs at the California Academy of Sciences. My hobbies include hot yoga, hiking, and birdwatching around the San Francisco Bay Area. I plan to continue my research work and later obtain my Ph.D.in Evolution Biology.
My project was through El Centro Cultural Techantit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Indigenous culture, art, and education. Their vision includes restoring ancestral roots, cosmovision, and transitions to enhance community well-being. Through inclusive, intergenerational programming, we strive to promote decolonization and dismantle the doctrine of discovery. Centro Cultural Techantit offers a secure haven for the Indigenous refugee community to unite, providing social support, cultural preservation, education on Indigenous People’s Rights, and valuable resources. We are committed to fostering Indigenous identity and empowerment for a stronger, healthier community.
